About us
Our Mission
The Green Center for Sustainable Finance and Energy will strive to establish itself as a Think tank for policies in the field of sustainable finance and energy, to lead the public debate on these topics in the country, to discuss issues that lead to concrete decisions. The main mission is to create and transfer leading good practices in both areas to stakeholders.

Publications
On September 25, 2015, the UN General Assembly adopted a global framework for sustainable development - the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The program focuses on the global agenda of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) and covers the three dimensions of sustainability: economic, social and environmental (ESG, E - Environment, S - Social, G - Governance).

The result of this global consensus is the first universal, legally binding global climate agreement, the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, signed on 22 April 2016 and ratified by the European Union on 5 October 2016.

How Bulgarian Businesses Report Their ESG Progress

Sofia, May 27, 2025 – The first report prepared by the think tank for sustainable finance and energy, the Green Centre, was presented on Tuesday, May 27, at Sofia University. The report focuses on how Bulgarian companies report their sustainability performance. The study, compiled by a team from the Green Centre, the Bulgarian Stock Exchange, and consultants including Prof. Dr Ec. Sc. Virginia Zhelyazkova, Prof. Dr Daniela Bobeva, Assoc. Prof. Dr Marina Stefanova, Prof. Dr Spartak Keremidchiev, and others covered 214 Bulgarian companies — including banks, state-owned enterprises, publicly listed companies, and energy firms.

Green Talks on the “Omnibus” Package and the Current “Sustainability Vacuum”

It aims to foster collaboration and understanding of the evolving regulatory landscape while promoting the sharing of best practices and practical solutions. The 2025 first edition centered on regulatory developments and sustainability requirements, with EY Denkstatt serving as event host.
