Training on “Sustainable finance – regulations and financial opportunities”
Green Centre, the Bulgarian think tank for both promoting and developing sustainable finance and energy polices, set up a one-off training on “Sustainable finance – regulations and financial opportunities.” The event was conducted online and gathered over 60 industry representatives, keen on learning more about the latest developments on the European regulatory landscape affecting sustainable finance practices.
Lecturers at the training included key speakers from the field of finance, renowned for their expertise in the area of sustainability. Assoc. prof. Manyu Moravenov, Chairman of the Board of Green Centre, welcomed all participants and wished everyone success in ensuring Bulgaria progresses with its green transformation in an understandable, transparent and fair manner. Sustainable finance regulations were presented by Ms Hristina Pendicheva, member of the Expert Group on Sustainable Finance at the European Commission. Mr Tsvetoslav Tsachev, Chief Investment Consultant at ELANA Trading, lectured on “Sustainable investments and capital markets”, while Dr. Eng. Dochka Vasileva from the Fund of Funds gave a presentation on financial instruments for green projects. Green Centre’s training was also attended by Ms Alexandrina Boyanova from the European Investment Bank. Ms Boyanova acquainted participants with current opportunities for financing green projects. The topic of “Corporate transparency – environmental disclosures” offered a natural closing for the event and was covered in a lecture by Ms Hrisitna Pendicheva.
Everyone in attendance shared their positive impressions and satisfaction with the training and expressed an interest in participating in follow-up events that will address other key topics related to the Green Deal and its practical applications on the business environment in Bulgaria.
Green Centre continues its mission to act as a transmission medium for the implementation of leading practices to reflect an array of global changes in the areas of sustainable finance and energy. All future trainings will be announced on the Green Centre’s website and social media channels.

How Bulgarian Businesses Report Their ESG Progress

Sofia, May 27, 2025 – The first report prepared by the think tank for sustainable finance and energy, the Green Centre, was presented on Tuesday, May 27, at Sofia University. The report focuses on how Bulgarian companies report their sustainability performance. The study, compiled by a team from the Green Centre, the Bulgarian Stock Exchange, and consultants including Prof. Dr Ec. Sc. Virginia Zhelyazkova, Prof. Dr Daniela Bobeva, Assoc. Prof. Dr Marina Stefanova, Prof. Dr Spartak Keremidchiev, and others covered 214 Bulgarian companies — including banks, state-owned enterprises, publicly listed companies, and energy firms.

Green Talks on the “Omnibus” Package and the Current “Sustainability Vacuum”
